Happy 48th Birthday from RACT Head of Corps

Today marks the 48th birthday of the RACT. On this day in 1973 the road transport, amphibious transport, air dispatch and postal functions of the RAASC were amalgamated with the water transport, terminal and movement functions of the RAE (Tn) to form the RACT.

RACT members are well prepared, highly trained and motivated to meet the challenges of the complex operating environments in which we find ourselves. Members of our Corps are today central to the preparation for and support of the many operations and exercises in which the Australian Defence Force is involved, and are doing tremendous work.

I am pleased to announce the RACT Corps Conference and Tobruk Dinner will be held at Puckapunyal over the period 8 – 10 Sep 21. This is a fantastic opportunity for selected members of the Corps to come together to discuss and advance key Corps related issues. The theme for the Conference is RACT and the Army Objective Force. Notably, since 1973 one of the Corps’ strengths has been the ability to adapt to significant restructure and environmental change, as a Corps we need to draw on this strength to continue to deliver in the era of Accelerated Warfare.

I would like to take this opportunity to say farewell and thanks to our outgoing Colonel Commandant South Queensland Region, Colonel Lesley Woodroffe who completed her tenure on the 01 Mar 21. Her contribution to the Corps over the past 10 years has been invaluable. I would like to welcome Brigadier Cris Anstey as the Colonel Commandant South Queensland Region. I look forward to working with Brigadier Anstey and I am certain that he will draw on his significant experience to continue to advance the status of the Corps.

I would like to close by thanking you and your families for the many personal sacrifices that you make as part of your commitment to serving the Army. I remain inspired by the work of our people and am grateful to be associated with the men and women of the Royal Australian Corps of Transport.

I wish you all a happy 48th Corps Birthday
