Lieutenant Colonel Leonard Oei - Deputy Head of Corps, Royal Australian Corps of Transport

Lieutenant Colonel Leonard Oei was born and educated in Sydney before joining the Australian Regular Army. In 1994, Lieutenant Colonel Oei graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy and in 1995 was commissioned into the Royal Australian Corps of Transport (RACT) on graduation from the Royal Military College - Duntroon.
Lieutenant Colonel Oei has served within numerous RACT streams including Road Transport, Water Transport and Joint Movements. His command appointments include LCM8 Troop Commander at 10th Force Support Battalion (10 FSB), Officer Commanding (OC) Joint Movement Control Office Townsville and OC 1st Transport Squadron, 1st Combat Service Support Battalion.
Lieutenant Colonel Oei has served as a Military Instructor at the Army School of Logistic Operations (ASLO), within the Army Logistic Training Centre, where he instructed on Logistic Officer Basic Courses (LOBC), Logistic Officer Intermediate Courses and Subject Two Warrant Officer Logistics courses. Lieutenant Colonel Oei also served as Senior Instructor of the LOBC, the longest and most complex course delivered by the School.
Lieutenant Colonel Oei has performed numerous staff appointments including at the Joint Movement Coordination Centre, Headquarters Logistic Support Force (now Headquarters 17th Combat Service Support Brigade) and recently at Army Headquarters' Force Development Group and as Chief of Staff of the Land Warfare Development Centre.
In 1998, Lieutenant Colonel Oei deployed to Bougainville on Operation Bel Isi II where he served as the Transport Troop Commander of the Logistic Support Team based out of Loloho. Lieutenant Colonel Oei also served in East Timor on Operation Tanager as a Movements Officer for the Headquarters Peacekeeping Force in 2000.
Lieutenant Colonel Oei holds a Bachelor of Arts (History and Geography), Graduate Diploma of Defence Studies and a Master of Arts (Strategy and Management) from the University of New South Wales. Lieutenant Colonel Oei is a graduate of Australian Command and Staff College (2007) and also holds a Graduate Diploma of Management in Defence Studies.
Lieutenant Colonel Oei is currently the Commanding Officer and Chief Instructor of the Army School of Transport. He also performs the roles and responsibilities of RACT’s Deputy Head of Corps.
